Caring Comes First: How I Help Seniors Downsize in Red Deer and Central Alberta

Getting to know my clients, and really taking the time to do it, is the most important part of helping them. That’s especially true when I’m working with seniors. Yes, I’m a REALTOR®, but for me, caring always comes first.

Selling the home you’ve lived in for decades is one of the biggest stages in life. It’s not just a move. It’s a whole chapter closing, and a new one starting. As a Red Deer REALTOR® for seniors, I want you to know that I understand where you’re coming from, and I’m here to walk beside you through every part of it.

My Background in Homecare

Before real estate, I worked in homecare. I spent my days in people’s homes, getting to know them, their routines, their stories, and what they needed to feel safe and comfortable. I loved it. I learned to slow down, to listen, and to really appreciate each person’s needs.

That experience shaped the kind of REALTOR® I am today. When I sit down with you, I’m not thinking about square footage first. I’m thinking about you. What’s getting harder in your current home? What matters most in the next one? Who do you want close by? Those answers guide everything we do together.

Downsizing Can Feel Overwhelming

Let’s be honest: downsizing is a lot. Decades of memories. Rooms full of belongings. Decisions about what to keep, what to pass on to family, and what to let go. Then there’s the selling, the buying, the moving, and the worry about whether the timing will all line up.

It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed. That’s exactly why I’m here. My goal is to take as much off your plate as I can and make this process as easy as it can possibly be.

Going the Extra Mile, Every Time

This is where I’m different from other REALTORS®. I don’t just list your home and hand you the paperwork. I support you in any way I can, including:

  • Movers and packing: helping you find and line up trusted help so you’re not lifting a single heavy box.
  • Painting and small fixes: coordinating the touch-ups that help your home sell, without the stress of managing it yourself.
  • Any other services you need: cleaners, junk removal, help sorting and downsizing belongings, and more. If you need it, I’ll help you find it.
  • Timing your move: lining up your sale and your next home so the dates work and you’re never left in between.
  • Explaining every step: in plain language, as many times as you’d like, with your family included whenever you want them there.

It’s that extra care that sets me apart. It’s also why 99% of my clients come back to me or refer their family and friends.

No Pressure, Ever, and Full Transparency

I will never pressure anyone into buying or selling. That’s a promise. My goal is simple: I want you to be happy with where you end up. However long that takes, whether it’s a few weeks or a few years, it doesn’t matter to me. We’ll get there when you’re ready.

You’ll also get full transparency from beginning to end. I’ll be upfront about what your home is worth, what the market is doing, what things will cost, and what to expect at every step. No surprises, no fine print you weren’t told about, and no question that’s too small to ask.

My Job Isn’t Done on Moving Day

Once you’ve moved, that doesn’t mean my job is over. You can reach out anytime, for anything. Need a recommendation for a handyman? Have a question about your new home or neighbourhood? Just want to say hi? Call me.

My clients end up becoming friends for life ♥️ and honestly, that’s the most rewarding part of real estate for me.

Why I Love Being a Red Deer REALTOR® for Seniors

One of the reviews that means the most to me came from Becky, a client I’ve now had the privilege of helping twice. She needed a home that truly worked for her physical needs, while also selling her existing home in a small resort market. Here’s part of what she shared on Google:

“Carrie worked diligently to find me a home that met my physical needs as a handicapped senior.”

That’s the kind of work I love. After selling two of Rhonda’s homes, it was time to celebrate together! You can read more client stories on my Red Deer REALTOR Reviews page.

Nothing beats this moment. Celebrating a SOLD sign with one of my wonderful clients.

A Red Deer REALTOR® for Seniors Who Puts You First

Whether you’re in Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Innisfail, Penhold, Blackfalds, Pine Lake, or on an acreage nearby, I’d love to sit down with you over a coffee. No pressure and no paperwork, just a conversation about where you are and what you need. And if you’re an adult child reading this for your mom or dad, I’m happy to talk with you too.
